I design with the concept of creating new relationships with smartphones as partners that come closer to people rather than just being tools. Sharp smartphones have an artificial intelligence called “Emopa.” A feature of this AI is that it enables smartphones to speak to people with superb timing even when people are not operating them. Moreover, the ROBOQUL rotating cradle allows a smartphone to face a person when it speaks, making it feel even more like a partner. I heard a customer say when they were replacing their smartphone, “I want to continue using Emopa. I would be sad without it.” This made me happy because our designs have become closer to people’s lives as partners, which is the concept.
I have liked motion graphics since I was a high school student. The pleasant feeling of works that synchronize video as though following sound, exemplified by the work of Takuya Hosogane, is extremely important for infusing right-brain elements into my design sense, which uses left-brain approaches, and creating a balance.
