The possibilities for “cat health management using litter boxes” were completely unknown. What design was necessary? How much service could be provided? To answer these questions, I learned from a veterinarian about feline ecology and illness trends, as well as how important litter boxes are for cat health maintenance. Then, I faced many difficult struggles as I undertook extensive design investigations. Since it would be pointless if cats would not use it, once I gave it a form, I tested it repeatedly with the cooperation of cats in pursuit of a design that would be used comfortably by as many of them as possible. Of course, I also concentrated on maintenance aspects for the owners who are the cats’ partners. I thought about making it seamless and flat so that cleaning could be done quickly and developed a form with an aura of cleanliness. I am utterly delighted if people have more comfortable and peaceful time together with their cats as members of their families.

In the new business design and development for which I am responsible, I have numerous discussions with experts from involved fields and take great pleasure in giving form to things no one has ever seen before. The more unreasonable demands are thrown at me, the more my creativity expands. A source of power for creating the unreasonable might be that at home my family members also make extreme requests saying, “Make this!”
